A thinner and faster solution Artemis LT

Artemis LT is the fourth product of Artemis, a nine years old product series for outdoor fixed installation. It inherits the design philosophy like consistently stable PCB and high-quality material from all Artemis product, and insist the classic mid-vertical-power box as its basic feature, and layout 2 x 4 pieces of modules at the two sides of the power box. The modules are still sealed by a back cover with “waistline” as visual perception element. The total thickness of the panel is also controlled within 105mm. All of these make Artemis LT extremely recognizable. On performance aspect, dual-latch driver ICs and golden wire LEDs guarantee high refresh rate and longer working life.
Artemis LT is designed for higher cost ratio with better using experience. New designed lock system allows new maintenance experience from the front and rear. We reduce its thickness and weight as much as possible by controlling the thickness at a level of 30%-50% lower than the normal product in the market. By this the customer transportation costs, installation cost could be reduced. At the same time, we increase the module handle size, the holding could be more comfortable and stable.

“Hi Leon,

Today I want to talk to you about the power consumption of the LED display.

As we all know, choosing a LED screen depends not only on the purchasing budget but also on the payment of electricity. Choose a cheap price but high-power cost LED screen, electricity consumption might be 2 times higher or even more then in the future time, and these high costs can order a new screen. Therefore, low-power cost LED screen very important.

Here are few factors that affect power consumption.

First, the initial brightness of the LEDs. If the initial brightness of the LEDs is higher than the using brightness, for example, 8500cd/m2 initial brightness and 6000cd/m2 using brightness, the power consumption will be reduced. While using the same brightness with initial brightness, the power consumption will remain at a high level.

Secondly, driver ICs. Different IC have different parameters and other different features. Here an important parameter is the turn voltage, a good IC its breakover voltage is only 0.3V, and some pool quality IC is about 0.5V. This a 40% difference. For example, our Artemis XT10mm, scanning mode 1/2, module 24 * 24 pixel pitch, that is, each module has only 54 ICs, the module resolution is 96 * 96, that is, 864 ICs, which also takes up lots of the power consumption.

Third, the power supply. Here electronic conversion efficiency is very important, if the electron conversion efficiency exceeds 95%, then this is the best, also the price of power supply is very high; 80% is normal, and common in the market. But if less than 80%, this is already very bad. It can be seen that a good power supply can save a lot of power, and if the electronic conversion efficiency is better, the heat will be lower, because only a small amount of current will become heat.

Of course, there are other factors, but these three factors are in the choosing of a screen when the most important.

Here, I will introduce our Athena Mesh display, we use Xindeco346, the diode's original brightness is higher than the average level, so the power consumption is low.

And we have MBI5043 ICs, Macroblock is one of the best IC manufacture, MBI5043 with DC output voltage 2-45MA, operating voltage 3.3V: 30MA, the working voltage of 5,0 V: 2-45MA, is a very economical power-saving.

With the power supply, we use the NES350 manufactured by MeanWell with an electron conversion efficiency of more than 80%.

As a result, our Athena Mesh has an average power consumption of only 128 watts per square meter and a maximum power consumption of 320 watts per square meter. If you choose such a product, it will save a lot of money in the future.

Refresh rate and gray scale of LED display

With the rapid growth of LED display market demand in recent years, the development and application of indoor LED display are more and more, extend from the stores, shopping centers, conference rooms and other common applications to the monitor and command centers, even in the studios. However, in these scenarios, the LED display is able to meet the needs of the users? Whether these LED display images can accord with human visual viewing? These LED display can withstand different camera shutter test in different camera angles? The main factors affecting the above problems are refresh rate and gray scale.
Refresh rate of LED display(visual refresh rate)
"Visual refresh rate" refers to the rate of screen updates, usually in Hz as a unit, in general, the visual refresh rate of 3,000Hz or more for high-performance LED display. The low "visual refresh rate" of the LED display in addition to lead to horizontal stripes in the camera, may cause discomfort or even eye damage when people viewed at the camera.
Gray scale of LED display
"Gray scale" refers to a variety of colors between the darkest and the brightest colors, with different changes in the color class. In general, the gray scale is above 14 bits for a high performance LED display, which has at least 16384 colors above the class level. If the gray scale is insufficient, there will be a lack of color scale or gradient color scale is not smooth enough, and can not fully show the color of the picture or video, making the LED display effect is greatly reduced.

10 years energy saving, we mean it!

Power consumption and electricity bills are undoubtedly an important cost and concern for advertising display operators. Today, we take a QSTECH outdoor fixed installation project in Philippines as an example to analyze power consumption and electricity charges of QSTECH product.



The total area of the display is 269.6m2, pixel pitch 20mm, uses QSTECH Artemis XT 20 with Nichia LED, brightness 6000cd/m2, works 18 hours per day.

The following table is the feedback from the customer and shows the power consumption with 11 months after the display was build up.

The customer says this display saves 25,000USD for him per year.

According to the table, we can calculate that the power consumption per square meter is about 107w, let’s say 110W, and the annual power consumption is:
269.6 x 0.11 x 18 x 365 = 194,840kWh

The conventional normal LED screen its average power consumption is generally around 200-280W, we calculate by 200W, annual power consumption is:
269.6 x 0.2 x 18 x 365 = 354,254.4kWh

It is easy to see that Artemis XT saves at least 159,414kWh a year. The average power electricity charge of Philippines is about 8.5 pesos, we calculate by 8 pesos, and the bill charge is about 27,546USD (PHP to USD exchange rate 0.0216 in 2016).

Let’s feel what can be down by those saved energy and money.

It can by a new BWM 320i, 35 new 128G iPhone 7, and 50m2 new P16mm or P20mm LED display with normal or bad quality.

Generating the saved power will born 64,403kg standard coal, discharge 158,936kg CO2 and 43,360kg carbon dust. Purification of the CO2 requires 1 hectare of forest to absorb for six months, and regarding to the carbon dust, it may lead to a heavy haze in a 600 square kilometers city.

And what can those save energy do? For 12 families’ air conditioner running 24x7 for 1 year; for a full-load high speed train running across the Atlantic for 3 times; for a Tesla P85 shuttling a round trip between earth to moon.
