How to choose a right display – viewing angle

For outdoor LED display, generally we use the DIP or SMD LED. The DIP LED has small vertical viewing angle and high brightness. The vertical viewing angle of SMD is much larger than the DIP, but its brightness is smaller than the DIP LED. From the user's point of view, the user should be based on the audience viewing side and the surrounding light environment of the LED screen to select a different perspective LED. For indoor LED display because of its low brightness requirements, generally the viewing range is wide, so the SMD LED is the best choice.
 

For reducing the cost, some of the LED manufacturers use the small chips to make the LEDs, but for small chip LEDs, if we need a certain brightness, it has to be a small viewing angle packaging. So in order to have a good rightness, those LEDs may be brightness enough, but the viewing angle might be smaller than regular LEDs. This will lead to a high brightness when the audience are watching from the front side, but an image when the audience are watching from a large viewing angle. Large size chip LED does not require a small viewing angle package, because its brightness is qualified. Therefore, a qualified LED with large chip large angle (normally 110) high brightness and low current is the best.
